1. Book well in advance. The coast is a favourite holiday spot for many travellers, both local and international. To ensure you secure the best accommodation, pay fair prices and enjoy your stay, AVOID last minute bookings. Book well in advance; begin inquiring and making down payments at least 3 months in advance.
2. Keep your eyes open for specials.
3. Go for cottages. If you're travelling in a large family or a group of friends, self catered and fully catered cottages could bring down your travel cost. Cottages are exclusive compared to hotels and some even enjoy superior locations.
4. Group up. Travelling in a group brings down the cost of travel significantly. Call Africa Point to find out which are some of the upcoming group departures are (seat in a bus safaris). This is also a great way to meet new friends and network.
5. Transport. Transport usually accounts for up to 50% of your holiday expenses – sometimes more. Look around for cheaper means of getting to your dream destination. Train and coach can save you a handsome chunk as opposed to flying. Hire a car on self-drive as opposed to chauffeur driven.
6. Wondering what to wear? Dress tropical. Light cotton clothing will do a lot of good. Keep it casual smart. Don't forget your swim suite. Bring a brimmed hat or cap as the coastal sun can be unforgiving. Wear some sunscreen.
7. Food and water. Be careful about what you eat or drink. Stick to bottled drinking water.
8. Capture the moments. Let the memory of your holiday last a lifetime. Bring with you a good camera.
