Summary:

Places to visit: Arusha, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. This is an adventure camping safari that recaptures the original safari spirit. You will see Tanzania’s best at a relatively relaxed pace. You start at Ngorongoro Crater, which supports a year round resident population of a variety of wildlife. It is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world. You then head to Lake Manyara National Park. This park is famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions and is also an ornithologists’ paradise. Your stay is under tents throughout.

Itinerary:

Day 1: ARUSHA/ LAKE MANYARA
The tour starts with lunch in Arusha town at 1230hrs. At 1400hrs, drive to Lake Manyara.

Dinner and overnight at Kirurumu Tented Lodge.

Day 2: LAKE MANYARA
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park, covers 330 sq. km, 70% of which is occupied by the lake. The varied ecosystem consists of ground water forests, acacia woodland and open grassland along the lakeshore and sustains a wealth of wildlife, including the Big Five -lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. The park is famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland between the lake and the Rift Valley. It is also an ornithologists’ paradise and is host to over 400 species of birds.
After the morning game drive Lunch will be served at the lodge. Then drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Day 3: NGORONGORO
After breakfast, collect picnic lunch and drive to Ngorongoro crater. The drive commences with the 600 m descent to the crater floor, a magnificent natural amphitheatre. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world. The crater supports a year round resident population of a variety of wildlife. You will Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food. Picnic lunches will be served in the crater. You will have no trouble spotting lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and many species of plain animals- wildebeest, zebra, reed buck, Thompson gazelle and many more.

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Day 4: NGORONGORO / ARUSHA
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha. Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Arusha town.

The above prices are based on a minimum of 2 persons. A price reduction is available for numbers above two persons. Six persons may enjoy up to 25% saving on the per person rate!

When arranging for your international air tickets, note that it is usually cheaper to disembark at Nairobi in Kenya. You then take a shuttle bus to Arusha at a cost of US$ 20. This shuttle bus leaves at 0800 and 1400 hrs daily from either Nairobi or Arusha. The drive takes 5 hours. If you wish to make use of this option, please indicate so.
