Upon arrival at the the airport, you will be met by an Africa Point representative and be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Mauritius is a petit Indian Ocean island that is one of the world’s finest sun, sand and sea destinations. The American writer Mark Twain was so enchanted by the islands exceptional beauty that he wrote: "You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first and then heaven, and that heaven was copied after Mauritius". Mauritius has successfully managed to position itself as an exotic beach destination. With beach destinations so plentiful, this has been sustained not by mere hype, but by the substance there is to this claim. Visitors are drawn to Mauritius by the reputation of its 140 km of white sand beaches, and the superb opportunities for water sports. Swimming, beach combing, sailing, surfing, kayaking, diving and deep-sea fishing - there is a sport for almost everyone.

All these people have multiplied with time, and had reached a count of 1.2 million by 2005.The Dutch were the first to make permanent settlement on the island, staying over between 1598 and 1712. They eventually lost their nerve after facing many trials brought by the forces of nature - cyclones, droughts floods. The French filled the void in the period 1715-1810,but lost out to Great Britain in the 1814 Treaty of Paris that followed the end of the Napoleonic Wars. The British remained in charge until independence in 1968.
