Itinerary: Day 01: Accra
Arrive in Accra, Ghana. You will be transferred from the airport to your hotel by our representative. Attend orientation on your tour program as it appears on your confirmed package.

Daytime arrivals: After unwinding from the flight you can explore the immediate surrounding of your hotel to acquaint yourself with your new environment.

Evening arrivals: Check-into your hotel and relax.

Day 02: Accra city tour
The day is devoted to a sightseeing city tour of Accra. You will drive through the economic districts of this cosmopolitan city which has been the capital city of Ghana since 1877. This city has a blend of colonial and modern architecture that summarize her history. You will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Independence / Black Star Square and W. E. B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture. Continue to the famous Ga coffin maker’s shop, where coffins are made to highlight a person’s affiliation or profession. Visit the Centre for National Arts and Culture where you will admire a great assortment of arts and crafts from across West Africa and have the opportunity to shop from the open-air market.

Day 03: Castles and slave dungeons tour
Depart for a scenic drive along the Atlantic Ocean to Cape Coast where you will tour the infamous Castles and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. Visit the Cape Coast Castle for a real touch of slave history. Built by the Swedes and later controlled by the British, this castle also accommodates the West African Historical Museum which was established in 1994. You will have the opportunity to watch a documentary dubbed: “Cross roads of people, Cross roads of trades”. This Castle was visited by the first African-American President of America, Barrack H. Obama in July 2009.
Continue to visit Elmina Castle for another nostalgia evoking slave trade story. Also known as St. George Castle, Elmina castle was built by the Portuguese in 1482. It was the first and largest European structure to be built in Sub-Saharan Africa. The beautiful harbour below the castle offers a great picturesque scene.

Day 04: Traditional naming ceremony on stilts
Depart for a morning drive to the western region of Ghana. Arrive at Amansure where you will put on your lifejacket and get ready for an exciting adventurer’s experience. You take an hour-long canoe ride through the Amansure wetland to Nzulezu (Village on Stilts). Enjoy the view of the splendid natural wonderland and gaze at the wonderful flora and bird species while you paddle to Nzulezu. You will receive a warm welcome by the villagers. Here you will participate in a special naming ceremony organised just for you. You will be met with a colourful display of Nzima culture. The naming ceremony which begins with a round of hearty welcomes and speeches will render you spellbound at the splendour of real Nzima culture. The villagers will tell you about their interesting history and give you a tour of their homes.

***After dinner participate in NTUATUA (DISCUSSION TIME) - This event offers you the opportunity to learn more about Ghanaian culture and share information about the experiences you are having on the tour. Your tour leader/ tour guide leads NTUATUA. (NB: This activity is optional)

Day 05: Kakum National Park
Take a morning drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, a unique tropical rainforest. Kakum is a splendid summary of tropical biodiversity. You will have the opportunity to see breathtaking views of the semi-deciduous rain forest as you walk on the famous Canopy Walkway. This Canopy Walkway is made up of seven bridges extending 330m and hangs 40m above the forest floor. After lunch of African cuisine which will leave an indelible signature of good taste on your tongue, embark on a drive through the forest zone to Kumasi, the heart of the famous Asante Kingdom. Check-in at you hotel and relax.

Day 06: Asanteman cultural tour
Begin this day with a cultural shopping tour of the three famous craft villages in Ashanti - Ahwiaa, the wood carvers’ village, Ntonso, the home of Adinkra cloth and Bonwire, the Kente weaving village. You will have the opportunity to see how African sculptures are carved, Ashanti Adinkra wax prints are made and how the famous Kente cloth is woven using an amazing traditional technology. You will also have the opportunity to buy directly from the artisans who make them. Later depart for a drive through the forest zone to Accra. After lunch, visit Manhyia Palace Museum, to obtain in-depth information on the Ashanti kingdom. A regal history that dates back to the 18th century is told with real touch. Enjoy a drive through the cultural laden city of Kumasi city. End the day’s tour at the National Cultural Center which houses the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum.

***After dinner attend an insightful lecture on Ghanaian culture.

Day 07: Ejisu cultural finding
Check-out and depart for a drive through the forest zone to the Eastern Region of Ghana to explore the beauty of nature at the cradle of hydro-electric power, Akosombo. En route, visit the palace of the great queen mother of Ejisu, Nana Yaa Asantewaa. She was the woman who led the Asante war against the British when the then governor of the Gold Coast, Sir Frederick Hodgson, demanded to be allowed to sit on the Golden Stool and ordered that a search for it be conducted. You will see the statute and personal relics of Nana Yaa Asantewaa in the royal town of Ejisu and also have the opportunity to interact with her family members to learn more about this intrinsic history. Also visit Besease to explore the beliefs, history and bravery of the Asantes at the Besease Shrine. You will be captivated by the Asante historic oral account as it is told by an old and knowledgeable traditional linguist. Continue with a drive to Akosombo for dinner and overnight.

Day 08: Volta Lake fun cruise
Drive to the Lake Port of Akosombo to cruise on the largest man-made lake in the world, Lake Volta, which covers about 3.6% of Ghana’s total land area. Aboard the cruise boat called Dodi Princess, you could dance or listen to the sweet sounds of live highlife music played by the cruise boat resident band, the King’s Anchor Band, while you enjoy lunch on the cruise. You will be fascinated by the calm of the lake as you bask in the beauty of the serene gorge that holds the waters of the world’s largest man-made lake.

Day 09: Day at leisure
Spend the morning at leisure. Later depart for an afternoon drive to Accra where you will spend the day at leisure or personal and other explorations. You could embark on a splendid shopping spree! Some of the popular shopping venues in Accra include the Accra Mall- a one-stop ultra modern shopping emporium with banks, restaurants and other services under one roof, Oxford Street- also referred to as the tourist street with shops for textiles and crafts as well as banks for the delight of the visitor, Centre for National Arts and Culture- an open air market for artifacts from Ghana and other West African countries, Diamond House-a great place for authentic jewelries.

Day 10: Departure
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Check-out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for departure flight
