Summary:

This package takes you to the Mauritian paradise for 7 nights/8 days at the Paul & Virginie Hotel on the southwest coast. The package includes two full day excursions.

The first excursion takes you to discover Port Louis -the capital and the Pamplemousses Gardens. This world famous gardens date back to 1735, and has a large collection of exotic and indigenous plants. At Port Louis, appreciate first hand the cosmopolitan mix in the Mauritian lifestyle, and get an opportunity to shop till you drop.

The second tour takes you to the south, one of the most scenic and unspoilt stretches of the island. This includes a stop at Curepipe, where there are numerous duty-free shops, where you can buy oriental carpets, watches, craft, paintings and top designer garments at competitive prices.

You also visit the extinct crater of Trou aux Cerfs, the sacred lake of Grand Bassin, the unique seven coloured earths of Chamarel and admiring the breath-taking Black River Gorges. The scenery here is amazing.

Day 1: ARRIVAL MAURITIUS
Arrive at Port Louis airport where you will be met and assisted by our representative. Transfer to your hotel - Paul & Virginie Hotel (3 Star rated) -Located on North-East Coast at sleepy fishermans village of Grand Gaube.

Check-in to the hotel on half board basis -breakfast and one other meal.

Day 2: AT LEISURE
After a relaxed buffet breakfast the rest of the day is free to soak in the tropical paradise ambiance.
The American writer Mark Twain was so enchanted by the islands exceptional beauty that he wrote: "You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first and then heaven, and that heaven was copied after Mauritius".

Day 3: FULL DAY TOUR
After breakfast, you will have a full day tour that covers Port Louis, the Capital & Pamplemousses Gardens (Full Day Tour)
The highlight of this trip is the oldest botanical garden of the southern hemisphere. Pamplemousses Gardens, well known to naturalists the world over, boasts a magnificent collection of indigenous and exotic plants. The attractions include giant water lilies, shady palm avenues and an old baobab tree, Aldabra giant tortoises and "Chateau Mon Plaisir".
An orientation tour of the islands capital, Port Louis, is followed by time to visit Miraj and Caudan Waterfront with great shopping, and an optional visit to the Blue Penny Museum.

Day 04: AT LEISURE
A full day at leisure at your hotel.This magnificent Malaysian-style resort, set in a fragrant tropical garden in the most beautiful lagoons of Le Morne Island offers the perfect setting for the ideal vacation. The airport is within on hours drive. Accommodation is in 196 rooms of 54m square and four presidential suites are luxuriously furnished and equipped with amenities befitting a resort of the highest standing. Each room has its own private balcony overlooking the spectacular lagoon.

Other activities are also available; hiking, tennis, fitness. Other facilities include sophisticated restaurants offering authentic Mauritian meals, European and Chinese cuisine. The resort has excellent conference and banqueting facilities.

Day 5: FULL DAY TOUR
On this day, you set out on a full day excursion. This tour includes a stop in Curepipe, where there are numerous duty-free shops, diamond cutting workshops, model ship factories and a hand-made oriental carpet shop. Watches, craft, paintings and top designer garments are also available at competitive prices.

Visit the extinct crater of Trou aux Cerfs, the sacred lake of Grand Bassin, the unique seven coloured earths of Chamarel and admire the breath-taking Black River Gorges - this is a full day of scenically contrasting delights. The tour includes lunch at the Domaine Saint Denis - a hunting lodge above Black River Gorges set amidst lush vegetation with panoramic views and an enticing table d’hote menu.

Day 6 and 7: AT LEISURE
Your days are free to enjoy Mauritius rich culture and history : a melting pot with four prominent ethnic groups: Indo-Mauritians –whose origins are in India; Creoles- of mixed African and European ancestry; Franco-Mauritians, the descendents of the original French settlers; and Sino-Mauritians, whose forbearers can be traced back to China. All these people have multiplied with time, and had reached a count of 1.2 million by 2005.The Dutch were the first to make permanent settlement on the island, staying over between 1598 and 1712. They eventually lost their nerve after facing many trials brought by the forces of nature - cyclones, droughts floods. The French filled the void in the period 1715-1810,but lost out to Great Britain in the 1814 Treaty of Paris that followed the end of the Napoleonic Wars. The British remained in charge until independence in 1968.

Day 8: DEPARTURE
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport at Port Louis for your flight back home.
