Itinerary: DAY 1: CAPE TOWN (50 KM)
Arrive at Cape Town airport. Meet and greet by your guide/driver.

Transfer to The Commodore Hotel, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront; this is where you will stay for the next two nights.

Depending on the time of your arrival, a short city tour to introduce you to the Mother City. A cable car ride up Table Mountain for sunset cocktails is a possibility, weather permitting.

Dinner tonight is at Emily’s Restaurant at the Waterfront. Peter Veldsman, author of 14 cookery books and winner of the 2004 Top Cape Town Restaurant award own Emily’s. The cuisine is Premier South African with an unequalled wine list of more than 1,000 items.

DAY 2: CAPE TOWN (80KM)
Today, explore the fairest Cape in the world. This nature tour will present you with scenic beauty offering unparalleled photo opportunities.

Enjoy the coastal drive via Clifton and Camps Bay to Hout Bay for a boat cruise to Seal Island. Next, marvel at the newly opened Chapmans Peak pass to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Stunning prospects of both sides of the Peninsula can be seen from the Cape Point promontory. Boulders Beach, Simons Town, is home to a large breeding colony of Jackass penguins. Return to your hotel.

Dinner tonight is at one of the hotel’s own restaurants where we have a choice of Cape Malayan cuisine in the Quarterdeck, South African a la carte at the Clipper or a mouth watering buffet.

DAY 3: CAPE TOWN - PAARL (100 KM)
Depart Cape Town for a tour of the Cape Winel ands. This tour winds through the fertile valleys of Stellenbosch and Franschoek.

Enjoy a cellar tour and wine tasting at the historic Boschendal Wine Estate and end up in the town of Paarl for an overnight at Grande Roche, a gracious, lavishly restored 18th century manor house, a member of the Relais & Chateaux group.

Dinner tonight is at the manor restaurant, Bosman’s. Executive chef Frank Ziomke works from a solid classical base to explore tastes and flavours of his ingredients. This restaurant was rated among the world’s 10 best restaurants in 2002 and has a Relais gourmand rating.

DAY 4: PAARL - KAGGA KAMMA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE (200 KM)
After breakfast embark on a scenic drive off the beaten track through mountain passes, wine and fruit country, to Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve, in the Cederberg Mountains.

Away from city lights and mobile phones you will enjoy peace and tranquillity under starlit skies for two nights.

You arrive at lunchtime and go for sundowners in the afternoon at the edge of a 500-meter deep canyon.

Dinner is a set menu and is served in an outside restaurant, weather permitting. At 22h00 you must light your candle.....

DAY 5: KAGGA KAMMA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
Early morning game drive with breakfast in the bush. This is followed by a Bushmen culture tour, a visit to ancient San living sites and rock paintings, some dating back 6000 years.

Dinner is a typical South African Braai or barbeque with ’potjiekos’. Food cooked in 3-legged black pots.

Dinner is followed by a night game drive with a stargazing guide!

DAY 6 AND 7: KAGGA KAMMA PRIVATE G.R - GROOTBOS NATURE RESERVE (287 KM)
After breakfast, leave this ancient place behind and embark on a more modern R43 tarred road that winds through farms and vineyards to the coastal town of Hermanus.

A short drive further brings us to the heart of South Africa’s floral kingdom, the Grootbos Nature Reserve. This reserve has more than 650 indigenous plant species, over 50 Red Data species and one of the world’s largest milk wood forests.

At its doorstep is Walker Bay where whale watching can be done from June - December. They come within 30 meters from the rocky shoreline. Boat based watching can also take you to the island refuge of huge sea bird colonies and the 60,000 strong Cape fur seal colonies. This is also home to the great white shark.

Enjoy two nights stay in private cottages, each with its own secluded balcony to admire the sunsets.

Dinner is served by candlelight in the African stone and thatch lodge. Their chefs draw inspiration from the abundance of scents and colours in nature around them to conjure magical combinations that replenish and inspire body and soul. Award winning Cape wines accompanies their gourmet cuisine.

DAY 8: GROOTBOS NATURE RESERVE - CAPE AGULHAS (100KM)
Depart the reserve for L’Agulhas. Cape Agulhas is the southernmost tip of the African continent. A cairn was erected to mark the exact location. It is also the point where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet.

Overnight stay is at the Agulhas Country Lodge, perched on a hill that overlooks the meeting place of the oceans. Their restaurant serves gourmet local cuisine, specialising in fresh fish. This property is part of the Good Cooks and their Country Houses association, hand picked for its high standard of personal service and passion for good food and wine.

DAY 9: CAPE AGULHAS - MOSSEL BAY (258 KM)
Today, travel along the N2 to the town of Mossel Bay. On the way, you get to pass Albertinia, home to several aloe factories. At Gouritz River Bridge is a 65m bungee jumping site for the not so weak at heart.

At Mossel Bay, explore the famous 500-year-old Post Office Tree, a seashell museum and a cave that has yielded artefacts dating back more than 80,000 years. Proceed to Botelierskop Game Reserve on the banks of the Great Brak River, in time for a game drive in 4X4 open vehicles.

Dinner is at the romantic Fireplace restaurant where the chefs prepare interesting cuisine using quality produce. The restaurant acquired the Chefs Hat accolade from the Portofolio Collection of country retreats.

DAY 10: MOSSEL BAY - OUDSHOORN (100 KM)
The tour takes across the Outeniqua Mountains to the town of Oudshoorn for a visit to the world famous Cango Caves, for a tour with a specialist guide.

A tour to an ostrich farm is also included in your itinerary before you escape to the hospitality and tranquility of a by gone era, the working farm De Opstal, some 12 km outside Oudshoorn.

The typical farm buildings, including old stables, wagon house, barns, etc. dating back to 1830, have been carefully restored.

Dinner tonight is traditional Cape cooking with Klein Karoo dishes to create an authentic dining experience with good local wines.

DAY 11 OUDSHOORN - KNYSNA (120 KM)
After a hearty farm breakfast, departure is set for the town of Knysna. This will lead to a ferry ride to Featherbed Nature Reserve, a natural heritage site for a guided tour with breathtaking views that will leave you speechless.

A forest walk will wet our appetites for a good lunch at the reserve. Next stop is far from the maddening crowd, inside the Phantom Forest eco reserve where we overnight in tree suites with a stunning sensuous forest bathroom!

Dinner is a North African experience with a taste of Moroccan and excellent wines.

DAY 12 AND 13 KNYSNA- ADDO (300 KM)
Today, explore the Garden Route, including the Big Tree, Tsitsikamma Forest and Storms River Bridge on the way to the Addo Elephant Park. You are booked in at the Woodall Country House & Spa for the next two days. Woodall is set amongst peaceful citrus orchards only minutes away from Addo. This facility is a winner of several accommodation awards and is also a member of the Good Cooks association.

Dinner is a set menu with interesting ideas from the chefs and excellent wines.

DAY 13: ADDO
Today you explore the Addo Elephant Park in all its splendour. At Woodall is a health spa and you also have unlimited access to a fully equipped gym.

DAY 14: ADDO - PORT ELIZABETH
Transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Johannesburg Airport and then home or to link with another GOOD FOOD itinerary
