Conference - Investment and Trade Opportunities in Southern Sudan
Africa Point joined with BOLA (Bread of Life Africa)- an NGO working in South Sudan, to organise and host a 2 day international conference titled ''Investment and Trade Opportunities in Southern Sudan''. The meeting was held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The keynote address was given by the Dr. Riak Machar - vice president of GOSS (Government of Southern Sudan) on the new government's vision for the development of Southern Sudan. Other issues addressed by various authoritative speakers were: Key points of the Peace Agreement; Economic and social background of Southern Sudan; legal framework for business operations in Southern Sudan; human resources & the development challenge in Southern Sudan; international assistance for the development of Southern Sudan.
In addition experts spoke on: Investment and trade opportunities in Southern Sudan - opportunities in: physical infrastructure; manufacturing and natural resources; agriculture, livestock and fisheries; tourism, banking, health, education and other services.
Africa Point's key role in the event was: Strategic planning for the meeting - Identifying and booking venue; receiving participant and exhibitor fees; logistics; conference admin support - Identifying resource persons - Identifying prospective participants - Publicity for the meeting
The meeting was attended by more than 1500 delegates being technical experts, journalists, investors, donors, NGO’s and government officials. The event was the first of its kind and was highly successful in meeting its objectives.
