Day-by-Day Programme

This wonderful 4-day safari kicks off in the famous Masai Mara National Reserve for some awesome Big Five viewing opportunities and then travels through the beautiful Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park.  Here you can catch a glimpse of some of the 400 species of birds that are found in the area as well as seeing some endangered species of game and perhaps even a Leopard or two.

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara Game Reserve

This morning our representative will meet you at your Nairobi hotel, or at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Arrivals area.  You will then be driven through the very scenic Kenyan rural countryside to the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, which is widely acknowledged to be one of the best places in Kenya to experience a true East African safari.

If your visit coincides with the annual Wildebeest migration (July to September) you will be privileged to witness one of the greatest natural spectacles on earth, when over two million Wildebeest and thousands of Zebra and antelope migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara in an eternal quest for fresh pastures.  This is also prime time for viewing the predators that follow the herds.

You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch.  After lunch you will have a little time to settle into your charming African-themed accommodation and explore the lodge before you set off on your first thrilling game drive adventure.  You will be back at the lodge in time for sundowners followed by a buffet-style dinner served in the dining room or on the terrace.

Fall asleep to the hypnotic sounds of the African wilderness.

Dinner and Overnight at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 2: Masai Mara Game Reserve

You will not want to miss a single moment of your day in the Masai Mara, so we suggest an early wake-up call this morning.  The early morning game drive often offers you the very best chance to see an excellent variety of wildlife on the move in the cool of the dawn.  The Mara offers such an abundance and variety of wildlife that you will be surprised and thrilled around just about every corner!  The reserve is particularly known for its Big Cats, and Lion in particular are commonly sighted.  The rest of the Big Five are also in attendance and you have a good chance of seeing Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and even the elusive Leopard.  Birders will enjoy the large numbers of raptors, including several species of Vulture.

If your budget will permit, you can opt to swop the early morning game drive for a Hot-air Balloon excursion, a really unforgettable hour spent drifting over the plains of the Mara just as the sun tentatively peeks over the horizon.  Your flight will be followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush on touch-down.

After your game drive or balloon safari you will return to the Lodge where you have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for your afternoon game drive.  Perhaps you can go for a guided Nature Walk or just relax around the lovely elevated pool with views over the reserve.

Dinner and Overnight at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 3: Masai Mara - Lake Nakuru National Park

After an early wake-up call and armed with packed breakfast your driver will take you through some of the most scenic landscape in Kenya as you drive through the Great Rift Valley to beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park.  You will arrive in time for lunch at your Lodge and then have the afternoon to explore this uniquely lovely alkaline lake and its surrounds.  The swamps and marches that surround the lake are home to a great many species of birds including many water birds such as Flamingo, Pelicans, Storks and Herons, and you will never be far from the distinctive call of the African Fish Eagle.

The surrounding wildlife reserve hosts some rather rare animal species such as Rhino, which have been almost poached to extinction in most areas of Africa today; enjoy the privilege of seeing these impressive animals in their natural surrounding here at Lake Nakuru.  You could also spot Giraffe, Hyena, Buffalo, Zebra and even Leopard, which are quite commonly seen in the Acacia trees lining the edges of the lake.

Your comfortable and attractive accommodation will be at either Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge.

Day 4: Departure

After breakfast at the lodge it will be time to drive back to bustling and vibrant Nairobi, Kenyas capital city.  The scenic drive takes about 2 to 3 hours and you will be dropped at your Nairobi hotel or transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your onward flight.
