Day-by-Day Programme

Get your married life off to the best possible start with our exclusive Honeymoon Safari which combines the stunning beauty of Lake Naivasha with the action and excitement of Kenya’s legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve.  Just when you think you have seen the best Africa has to offer, we will fly you to the jewel of the Indian Ocean, the magical Seychelles Islands, to relax and soak up the sun for 4 glorious days before you return home.

Day 1: Nairobi - Lake Naivasha

You touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, the first step towards the honeymoon of a lifetime.  Your guide will be waiting to meet you outside the arrivals hall to give you your first taste of the wonderful Kenyan hospitality in store for you!   You can discuss any questions you may have as you set off on your scenic 2 hour drive to beautiful Lake Naivasha. Your drive will take you through one of the most beautiful parts of Kenya as you drive deep into the Kenyan Rift Valley.  You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch.

Your home for the next two days will be either Kiangazi House or Chui Lodge, which are both situated in the Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled just above Lake Naivasha.  The property has a water hole on site which is regularly visited by a variety of animals, which you can enjoy watching from the lodge, and the birdlife is prolific.

The rooms and cottages are lovely and peaceful, featuring big comfortable beds, a seating area and pleasant décor with a distinct African feel to set the scene for your first romantic honeymoon night in Africa.  After settling in you may like to have a nap to recover from your flight, or you can relax around the pool or go for a walk to the shores of Lake Oloidien to see the Hippos and the many water birds that are always lining the shallows.

Indulge in a romantic bush sundowner for two as the sun dips dramatically below the horizon signaling the approaching end of your first day in Africa.

Both Lodges are renowned for their excellent cuisine, so you have a gourmet dinner to look forward to tonight.

Lunch, dinner and overnight at Chui Lodge or Kiangazi House (Full Board).

Day 2: Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is one of a string of seven fresh and salt-water lakes that dot the landscape of the Great Rift Valley, an enormous fracture line in the surface of the Earth that stretches all the way from Jordan in the North to Mozambique in the South.  The lake supports a large population of Hippos and a great many birds including Pelicans, Flamingo and many African Fish Eagles, whose plaintive cry is a regular feature of the natural soundtrack.

You have the full day to explore Lake Naivasha, and your lodge has a host of activities for you to choose from, starting with morning and afternoon game drives in the Oserien Wildlife Sanctuary, a bush breakfast or bush walk and boating or fishing trips on Lake Naivasha. If you love flowers, a visit to the Oserien flower farm is a must and is included in your package.

Dinner and overnight at Chui Lodge or Kiangazi House (Full Board).

Day 3: Lake Naivasha - Maasai Mara National Reserve

After another delicious breakfast at your lodge you will transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Kenya's legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, departing at 10.15 hrs. After your short and scenic flight, which will give you an aerial perspective of the beauty of the Rift Valley, you will arrive in the home of the Maasai warriors and transfer to your luxury Camp on the banks of the Mara River.

There is nothing like a little hint of danger and excitement to set the scene for romance, and Entim Camp has the perfect blend of both these elements, gently combined with first class hospitality, excellent food and luxurious accommodation.

You will be spending the next 4 nights in a genuine Safari Tent, cleverly positioned on an elevated wooden deck, to keep you safe from the wildlife that regularly meanders through the camp.  Your under-canvas experience includes comfortable beds with crisp linen, an en-suite bathroom with flushing loo and hot shower.  Each tent has been individually decorated with artistically handcrafted furniture and opens onto a large verandah overlooking the breathtaking river scenery. A chilled bottle of bubbly to welcome you is just one of the special romantic surprises in store for you here.

After settling in you will have some free time to explore the camp before you set off on your first game drive in this incredible wildlife sanctuary.  Prepare to be amazed!  The Maasai Mara Reserve is renowned for the sheer numbers of animals that are spotted here on a regular basis, and since Entim Camp occupies an enviable position close to the confluence of the Mara and Talek Rivers, you will be right in the thick of the wildlife action – in fact, you can see a great deal of it without even leaving your camp.

Dinner and overnight at Entim Camp (Full Board).

Day 4, 5 & 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Wildlife viewing in the Maasai Mara Reserve is absolutely legendary.  Millions of Wildebeest and Zebra migrate through the Reserve each year, joined by Thomson gazelles and followed by an assortment of predators which include Cheetahs, Lions, Wild Dogs (endangered!), Jackals, Hyenas and several species of Vultures.  Even if you are not visiting around the time of the Migration, Maasai Mara offers superior game-viewing opportunities all year round and is particularly known for Big Cats.

For the next three days you have the unrivalled opportunity to watch and photograph these amazing animals almost on your doorstep.

This is what a typical day holds in store for you:

Awaken to the fabulous dawn chorus as the birds greet the day and you get ready for a cup of coffee before your first game drive of the day.  This is possibly the best time to be in the bush, as all the animals start to become active and the Big Cats are on the move.   After some excellent sightings you will either return to camp for breakfast or enjoy a honeymoon treat of a romantic bush breakfast deep in the heart of the wilderness.

There is an option to swop your morning game drive for a Hot-air balloon excursion on one of the mornings; there is an extra charge applicable, but if you can fit this into you budget it really makes for a wonderful romantic addition.  You will drift over the savannah for about an hour as the sun peeps over the horizon and the bush comes to life below you – pure magic!  The balloon ride concludes with a champagne bush breakfast on touch-down.

After breakfast at the camp you can either relax or go for a guided bush walk, an exciting opportunity to see the animals on foot – it’s a little scary at first, but you will have an armed guide with you to make sure your are safe.  This is a great way to learn about the smaller creatures, plants and insects that you would miss on a game drive, and it is great for birders.

Lunch is served at the Camp and you then have some free time to relax or nap before the afternoon game drive.  This is a perfect time to enjoy your private deck overlooking the river.

Your afternoon game drive is another chance to get up close to a variety of game and you will often stop in a scenic spot to enjoy cool sundowners as you watch the sun dip under the horizon.

There is also the option to leave a little later one morning (a chance to sleep in a little!!) and spend the whole day in the bush with a packed lunch – perfect during the migration, when a river crossing could occur at any time, and for those who simply cannot tear themselves away from the action.

Dinner and overnight at Entim Camp (Full Board).

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

This morning you will bid a sad farewell to your hosts (no-one ever wants to leave the ‘Mara!) and transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi – departure at 11.00hrs.  On arrival at Wilson Airport at 12.15, you will be transferred to your Nairobi Hotel for an afternoon of relaxation.

Tonight you will be staying at the Ole Sereni Hotel which is very comfortable, convenient to the airport for your next flight and right on the doorstep of the Nairobi National Park.  You can relax around the pool (overlooking the National Park), work off some of those scrumptious bush meals in the gym or enjoy a soothing and romantic couple’s massage in the Spa.

Overnight at Ole Sereni Hotel (Bed & Breakfast).

Day 8: Nairobi - Seychelles

After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mahe in the Seychelles, the next exciting installment of your African honeymoon.

On arrival in Mahe you will be met and transferred to your personal little slice of heaven in the Indian Ocean, the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay resort, which is just 15km from the airport, on the main island of the Seychelles archipelago.  The Seychelles is made up of 115 amazing paradise islands, just south of the equator.  The water is azure and warm and the beaches are pristine – a true paradise for sun seekers and the perfect destination for a beach holiday.

Dinner and overnight at Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay.

Day 9, 10, 11 & 12: Seychelles – Mahe

Welcome to the perfect ending to your dream African honeymoon.  After the excitement of the bush you can now wind down and enjoy the luxury of sleeping late!   Lounge on the beach under a gently swaying palm tree, take long romantic sunset walks along the beach or learn to scuba at the PADI School.  Snorkeling is great for those who do not want to dive and the marine life is fabulous around the reefs.  There is also a great selection of other water sports such as sailing, kayaking, banana boats and more.  As the sun sets you can visit the casino and challenge Lady Luck.

Dinner and overnight at Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay.

Day 13: Departure

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.

Africa has a way of creeping under your skin; your stunning African honeymoon is just the start – you will leave with incredible memories and a firm desire to return.
