Day-by-Day Programme

The Mara is home to very large numbers of animals large and small, including the Big Five and a very good representation of Big Cats.  In addition, it hosts the incredible Wildebeest Migration each year when millions of Wildebeest, accompanied by thousands of Zebra and antelope make their way north from the Serengeti to find fresh pastures – this remarkable spectacle is so impressive that it has been called the greatest wildlife show on Earth.

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai  Mara Game Reserve

Your guide will be on hand to pick you up at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (or your Nairobi Hotel) for your scenic drive through the very beautiful Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve.  You will arrive in time for lunch at the Ol Moran Tented Camp, your wilderness home for the next two nights.  After lunch you can relax, explore the camp or have a quick nap before your first afternoon game drive in Kenya’s premier wildlife reserve.  The afternoon game drive usually lasts about 3 hours, and you will generally be back in camp in time for traditional African sundowners before dinner.

Accommodation is in spacious comfortable tents with en-suite bathrooms and private verandas.

Dinner and overnight at Ol Moran Tented Camp - Superior Tent.

Day 2 & 3: Masai  Mara Game Reserve

These two days provides full days to enjoy the magnificent game viewing on offer in the Mara.  We suggest that you request an early wake-up call so that you can be out in the thick of the early morning action, when the first flush of dawn signals the arrival of another day and the animals begin to stir.

The Masai Mara is one of the most astounding wildlife reserves in Africa, and home to a rich diversity of animals great and small. The beautiful landscape resembles a magnificent natural tapestry of wide grassy savannahs interspersed by riverine forests and dotted here and there by Acacia trees, the iconic tree of the African bush.  The incredible Wildebeest Migration, with spectacular view of the River Crossing, prime game viewing destination with an excellent opportunity of spotting the Big Five and several Big Cats which are particularly prominent in this Reserve. You should also be on the look-out for many species of Antelopes, Warthog, Elephant, Hippo, Jackals, Hyena, Buffalo and even the rare Black Rhino.  Birdlife is also good and there is a particularly good selection of raptors to spot, including several species of Vulture.

If your budget can be stretched a little, consider swopping the early morning game drive for a fantastic and memorable Hot-air Balloon expedition at dawn.  This is a fantastic way to see the birth of a new day, as you drift silently over the tree tops.  On landing you will be treated to a champagne bush breakfast before returning to camp.

After the morning game drive (or Balloon flight) you will return to camp to relax during the hot midday hours.  You can enjoy an escorted bush walk, do some bird-watching or just relax in your comfortable tent.  Around mid-afternoon it will be time to embark on another afternoon game drive.

Back at camp you can swop game-viewing stories as you enjoy drinks under the wide canopy of the starry African sky.

Dinner and overnight at Ol Moran Tented Camp - Superior Tent.

Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve - Nairobi

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye to your hosts and set off for the drive to Nairobi, which takes about five and a half hours. On arrival you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight.
