Tour Summary:
The tour departs Johannesburg and takes a scenic route through
spectacular Mpumalanga. You drive through the historic Pilgrim's
Rest where the richest alluvial gold deposits in South Africa
were discovered in 1873. Then head for Kruger National Park-
unrivalled in the diversity of animal life. You are sure to
see the big five- lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, buffalo
and other many species of game as well as prolific plant and
birdlife. Then through the Kingdom of Swaziland, you enjoy
game viewing in Maputaland and also visit the St Lucia World
Heritage Site in KwaZulu Natal. You end up at Durban - which
welcomes you to a sub tropical carnival atmosphere and all
year sunshine.
Program:
Day 1:
Johannesburg/Nelspruit
Depart Johannesburg and travel via the historic coal-mining
town of Witbank. Continue traveling through the breathtaking
Schoeman's Kloof Pass with a refreshment stop along the way.
Stop off at the Sudwala Caves, rich in Zulu and Boer history.
The P. R. Owen paleontology exhibition is also a famous attraction.
From the town of Nelspruit, proceed via White River to the
resort hotel. Enjoy a lazy afternoon in the plush, relaxed
environment of the Lowveld. A superb meal completes the day.
Lone Creek River Lodge or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast
basis.
Day 2:
Nelspruit /Kruger National Park
After breakfast, travel via the small town of Sabie to the
Mac-Mac Waterfalls. Along the Bonnet Pass pay a short visit
to the historic town of Pilgrims Rest, where the richest alluvial
gold deposits in South Africa were discovered in 1873. Continue
exploring the Panoramic Route featuring: the Blyde River Canyon,
Three Rondawels; Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and
various waterfalls. Travelling over Kowyn's Pass to the Hazyview
area, arrive at your night stop. Enter the Kruger National
Park for a short introductory game drive in the late afternoon
and return to the hotel for dinner under the stars in a traditional
African Boma (weather permitting).
Protea Hotel Kruger Gate or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast
basis including 2 game viewing activities.
DAY 3:
Kruger National Park
Early morning game drive in the Kruger National Park. An open
safari vehicle is available as an optional extra. Enjoy a
sumptuous breakfast before returning to the Kruger Park for
further game viewing en route to the private game lodge. Arrive
in time for high tea, and late afternoon game viewing in an
open safari vehicle with an experienced ranger & tracker.
Return to the lodge for dinner where an African feast awaits
you.
Bongani Mountain Lodge or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast
basis including 1 game viewing activity.
DAY 4:
Kruger National Park/Swaziland/Maputaland
An early morning bush walk or game drive (optional extra).
After breakfast depart via Jeppe's Reef through Eastern Swaziland
and along the Lebombo Mountains. Leave Swaziland at Golela
border post and continue via the town of Pongola to a Maputaland
game lodge, in time for a late afternoon game drive in an
open safari vehicle. Return to the Lodge for dinner served
under an African sky (weather permitting).
Ubizane Wildlife Reserve or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast
basis including 2 game viewing activities.
DAY 5:
Maputaland/St Lucia/Durban
After an early breakfast and safari, visit St Lucia, a World
Heritage Site, and enjoy a river cruise on the estuary. Here
you may see pelicans, flamingoes, hippos and crocodiles. After
driving through sugar cane plantations along the Indian Ocean
seaboard, arrive in the bustling city of Durban for drop off
at hotel or Durban International Airport.

Rands 4175 -extra for child age 8-12 years sharing room with
2 adults (US$ 630)

Note:
- Children: under 8 years are not accepted on this tour
- Arrival: at approximately 15h00 in Durban
- Clothing: Light safari clothing is sufficient. From May
to Sept warm clothing is required. Some hotels may require
'smart casual' dress for dinner.
- Luggage: kindly keep to a minimum.
- Health requirements: no inoculations are required but an
anti-malaria precaution is strongly recommended.
- Visa & Passport: as you enter Swaziland, passport and
visa conditions apply.
- Additions and extensions can be made to this tour. Consider
staying in Durban for a few nights to round off your experience.
