3. Major Attractions
It is here that perhaps the most beautiful view is found in Kenya.
The sight of almost a million flamingoes together can be one of
the most memorable scenes for any visitor to this national park.
The visitors also get a chance to see Hippos and clawless otters
in the lake itself, waterbucks, reedbuck and zebra, black and white
rhino, buffaloes, leopard, the rare Rothschild giraffe, black and
white colobus monkeys in the forest, elands, steinbok, impala, chandlers
reedbuk, dikdik, rock hyrax, klipspringer along the cliffs and escarpments
and several large prides of lion. Several bird species are found
here.
What could be more exciting than to witness hundreds
of thousands of flamingoes flying only to cause temporary darkness?
This can be witnessed at Lake Nakuru national park only if you are
lucky to get the chance to see the flamingoes fly. It is not a guarantee
that this happens every time you visit the park as it only occurs
during migration to Lake Magadi. For any adventurous person, this
is not a destination that should be missed.
