Description:

Banana House is found in Shela Village, a friendly ’Bed & Breakfast’ alternative in Shela just a short walk to Shela beach. The house is run By Monika, a dutch lady who has been a resident of Lamu for some time now.

Recreation:

On the ground floor, there are 3 rooms, two of which are inter-connecting and share a bathroom, hence ideal for families with young children. All bedrooms are ensuite, with hot water showers. The first floor also has 3 double rooms en suite, open, covered dining area and living area. The top floor boasts a private penthouse with double bedroom, private dining facilities, sun-beds which can also be ideal for star-gazing, as well as a sitting area. The house has sea views from first and top floors.

The House has a homely and welcoming atmosphere, cool and elegant with beautifully plastered and waxed neru walls. It isspacious, and has numerous attractive sitting and lounging areas, hammocks, and day beds and a beautiful tropical garden within its walls.

Rooms are simply and tastefully furnished in a fusion of Swahili and Arabic elements.
Right next door is Banana Wellness which offers yoga programs, massage and other holistic treatments and hosts frequent Art of Living and other lifestyle changing courses on cookery, meditation and yoga which they host on the ground floor Yoga Hall.

Activities that can be enjoyed in Lamu include sundown sails, dhow cruises, beach parties, snorkeling trips, and visits to other Lamu islands
