The Ark Lodge is modelled on Noah’s Ark, a huge log-cabin type structure that looks oddly at home perched in the middle of the dense forest in the heart of Aberdare National Park. Each of the levels (or “decks”) has an extensive outdoor viewing area overlooking a waterhole and salt lick, which constantly attract an excellent cross-section of animals including Elephant and Big Cats. There is also an underground hide which brings you remarkably close to the unsuspecting visitors, allowing some brilliant photo opportunites.
The rooms (or “cabins”) are also modelled on the interior of a boat, and while comfortably appointed, most of them are quite compact! Each room has an en-suite bathroom and window facing the forest, which means that you can drift off to sleep surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. A bell system is installed to wake you up if there is a significant nocturnal sighting; this can be de-activated if you prefer!
